EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PRE-SCHOOL
Where do I drop my child off and pick him up?
We will be using the North West doors at Washington Elementary. Behind Dairy Queen is a drive that will take you to the North West doors. When you pick up and drop off, please get out of the car and walk with your child. We will not let your child leave until someone is coming up to meet them. I will need a note from you if your child will be picked up by someone other than yourself. If your child rides the bus, the bus will use the same entrance. What are the class times? The morning class will meet from 8:30- 11:00 while the afternoon class meets from 12:15- 2:45. Please do not drop your child off any earlier than 8:25 if they are in the morning session and 12:10 if they are in the afternoon class. Also, please be prompt when picking up your child. If there is going to be a problem, please call the office at 936-4072. Your child will be in the front office waiting for you if you are more than 5 minutes late. It is crucial you are on time to pick up your child. The large school buses use the same entrance that pre-school uses when dropping off and picking up your child. Vehicles aren’t allowed down the North West drive while the large buses are picking up school aged children. Will there be snack provided? We will be offering a snack each day for the class. Our school corporation has adopted the Wellness Program. We are going to be able to continue with snack, even though the rest of the building is not. I will provide snacks, but your help would be greatly appreciated. Your child may be asked to bring in snack once a month, which is optional. Thanks in advance! What if there is a school delay or closing? For the safety of our preschoolers, our policy is to follow both Plymouth School Corporation and your home school corporation for delays and closings. If Plymouth is closed, classes will be cancelled. If your corporation is closed, your child will not have class. On day of delays, a.m. Preschool will be cancelled. Medication All medication must be brought to the school nurse with a doctor’s order of dosage, time, etc. Change of Clothes Even if your child has mastered the art of pottying, he/she will still need a complete set of seasonally appropriate change of clothing. The world of preschool is often messy and an unpredictable place full of mud puddles and milk spills! We strongly urge you to label all clothing that comes to school. It greatly increases the likelihood of it coming back home again! Change in Schedule When your child’s schedule varies from the norm, please be sure to keep us informed. In addition, we want to include your child in as many of our activities as possible, and with advance notice, we may be able to adjust our schedule so that your child won’t miss out on fun activities. Parent/Teacher Communication It is one of our highest priorities to help your child cope with potentially stressful situations. We rely on good parent/teacher communication to accomplish this goal. Whenever possible, please let us know about any changes in your family life. Moving to a new house, mom or dad going out of town, the death of a pet, visiting relatives, and major schedule changes—these can all be stressful occurrences in a child’s life (and yours as well!). If you can alert us to these new situations, we will better be able to help your child work through them. Birthdays We are happy to help your child commemorate his/her birthday in our classroom. When the time comes, let us know if you would like to do this. You may send in classroom treats for your child’s birthday. Items from Home Children are always welcome to bring in items from home on our show and tell days. We ask that toys from home stay at home except on show and tell days. |
